Job description
The Smithsonian Institution (SI) is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Office of Facilities Management (FM). The Office of Facilities Management (FM) is responsible for all Smithsonian facilities, many of which are designated as historic and all of which are visited by millions of people each year. Duties:
The Supervisory General Engineer is responsible for all aspects of project development, including design, construction, budgeting and evaluation, ensuring projects meet cost, schedule, and quality standards. In this position, you will: · Plan the work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. · Collaborate with senior Smithsonian Institution (SI) stakeholders to identify project needs, define objectives, and develop comprehensive work plans that align with institutional priorities. · Coordinate flow of communications containing technical information to appropriate SI personnel. · Oversee complex engineering and facilities projects from inception through completion, including post-project evaluation and continuous improvement activities.

Education:

How you will be evaluated:
Your application will be evaluated first for the basic qualifications described above. The applications that meet the basic qualifications will be evaluated further against the following criteria: 1. Ability to apply procurement principles, methods, or tools for developing scopes of work, scheduling, coordinating, estimating, and managing maintenance projects or repairs. 2. Skill in apply engineering concepts, principles, and practices on Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing systems (MEPs) during renovation or maintenance repair projects. 3. Ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences. 4.
